Meet Michelle

Michelle Mosby --the first African American woman to lead Richmond's City Council, is running for Delegate for the 77th district to bring bold leadership, strong communities, and a brighter future to Virginia. Her proven track record includes  spearheading transformative projects like new schools, riverfront investments, and bus rapid transit.

Issues

I believe in a justice system that protects public safety while also delivering fairness, rehabilitation, and second chances. For nonviolent offenses, we must prioritize alternatives to incarceration that address root causes and help people rebuild their lives. I’ll work to expand reentry programs, job training, and record-clearing opportunities, and to strengthen community-first policing that builds trust. For youth, we should replace punitive systems with restorative justice programs that keep young people in school and on track.

True public safety also means tackling gun violence with common-sense reforms that keep our communities safe while respecting the rights of responsible gun owners. I support universal background checks, safe storage laws, and keeping firearms out of the hands of domestic abusers and those with dangerous histories. Gun violence prevention must go hand in hand with violence intervention programs, mental health support, and community resources.
